Won American Idol's first Golden Ticket to Hollywood for Season Nine, singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." She also captured the national spotlight in her interview, focusing on pro-life issues. Ninth of 12 children, Maddy has grown up with four brothers with Down syndrome - her next oldest brothers and three younger ones her family adopted. American Idol's coverage of her devotion to and appreciation for her differently-abled brothers has inspired many - and led to a stream of interviews and guest appearances including the 2010 National Right to Life Convention and the upcoming 2011 March for Life.
Maddy has been singing since she was a toddler - everything from Broadway to opera to blues - has starred in dozens of musicals and received many awards. She is a senior in high school and cantors at her church, hopes to attend Catholic University to study musical performance. Like Eric Liddell, the famous runner in Chariots of Fire, Maddy feels most happy when involved in her calling: "When I sing, I feel God's pleasure." Now called to serve in the pro-life movement, Maddy is finding the greatest fulfillment in her life so far.
